Who We Are
We are all practising clinicians working in the private dental sector (either fully private or in mixed practices). We are not career dental politicians, but dentists just like the rest of you, who volunteer our time and resources to create a better future for us all.
Our Story
The British Association of Private Dentistry was formed in April 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Private dentists attempting to ensure they could provide emergency care for their patients during the lockdown were faced with the reality that they had been left completely unrepresented by existing healthcare structures and professional bodies. With nowhere to turn, groups of private practitioners from across the UK came together via Facebook and the then largely unfamiliar ‘Zoom’ platform, and the BAPD was born.
The primary mission of the BAPD is to represent, guide, protect, and support dental professionals in the private dental sector across the UK, and to promote the delivery of quality dentistry for all patients.
Guiding
We are committed to engaging with regulators and government policy makers, wherever we can, to ensure the voice of private practice is heard and that we are allowed to provide input that results in well-informed and scientifically-backed decision making affecting our profession.
Supporting
We will support all those involved in the private dental sector by providing resources or directing members to resources that will allow the delivery of quality dental care.
Protecting
We will strongly represent our members’ interests in meetings with government and regulators, in order to protect the profession’s ability to continue to care for patients in the best possible way.
Listening
We are committed to listening to our members and addressing the issues important to them.
